Kavala (Hickory)

Kavala is beautiful and sustainable. Like all CRAFT floors, Kavala is made from North American wood that is third-party verified by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) to be from legal and responsible sources.

All CRAFT floors have a Declare label and are rated Red List Free; are ultra-low emitting and are certified to GREENGUARD Gold; and are covered by a Product Specific, Type III EPD.

Kavala (Hickory)

The distinctive neutral light brown colour that is unique to Kavala is achieved by a subtle, multi-step colour treatment process. CRAFT artisans mute some of the warmth naturally present in Hickory’s heartwood using colour “fading” reactants, resulting in a more beautiful and natural feel, perfect for today’s design trends.

Kavala’s distinctively earthy, organic beauty is primarily due to the intensive grading of CRAFT’s Elite Grade Hickory. Each board is selected to have a medium colour with a predominantly heartwood pattern featuring thin strips of sapwood along the edges for accent. The result is a cleaner, more linear heartwood/ sapwood pattern than that found in other natural Hickory floors.

For the utmost in design flexibility, Kavala is also available in wide plank Herringbone or Chevron pattern. You can order as much or as little as you please, knowing that your Kavala Herringbone or Chevron planks will blend perfectly with a Kavala floor.

CRAFT Elite Grade: Specially selected to limit excessive colour variation and maximize clear surfaces for a clean, contemporary appearance.

WOOD PATTERN / GRAIN

The distinctive, unique look of Kavala is primarily due to the strict selection of its hickory planks. Kavala boards are selected to have a medium colour, heavy heartwood pattern with thin trips of sapwood along the edges for accent.

TEXTURE / BEVEL

A light, wire-brushed texture gently accentuates the wood’s beauty without overly exposing the grain. Planks are moulded with a 0.7mm radius micro-bevel.

FINISH

DuRa Finish™ Ultra Matte looks natural and harmonizes with wood’s natural texture, while offering superior protection. CRAFT floors are regularly tested by Underwriters Laboratories for VOC emissions and consistently achieve the highest rating of GREENGUARD Gold, demonstrating an ultra-low level of emissions and ensuring a healthy living environment with excellent indoor air quality.
