Artisan Wood Floors
We use the term VintageCRAFT to describe the artisanal woodworking techniques employed by our craftsmen to create the rich time-worn effect found in all of our textured collections: Castillo Plank, Legacy Plank, Reclaimed Heart Pine, and Lakeside Plank.
Our artisans use a multitude of VintageCRAFT techniques, and through the various hand texturing and surface enhancement processes they add texture and distinctiveness, transforming planks of wood into stunningly beautiful boards.
The surface of each plank is planed, by hand, the same way that woodworking craftsmen did centuries ago in an effort to even out the crudely milled planks that were the norm for floors in times past.
Knots and seasoning checks are expertly filled by our artisans. By properly sealing these up, this process allows us to retain the organic elements that give wood its natural and authentic character.
Special tools are then used to abrasively brush the wood’s textured surface, accentuating its natural grain pattern and making it pop.
And finally, each plank is individually hand sanded, the same way as its done when making fine furniture, so that the wood will look its absolute best once the final surface treatment is applied.
These techniques are the hallmark of a serious woodworking artisan, and they are what defines VintageCRAFT.
Floors with VintageCRAFT texturing have a unique sense of history and style that sets them apart from other floors. Homeowners love living on a floor with true hand texturing, knowing that a floor with such authenticity and originality adds real value to their investment.
