Artisan Wood Floors
Homeowner Raveena kindly welcomed CRAFT into her new custom build which is home to her husband and young family of 3. We talked about her choice to build on our charcoal brown Cantabria, and admired her use of textures and gorgeous tone-on-tone décor.
The overall effect is open and timeless, with all rooms flowing into one another and exuding a similar feel.
Q: Please tell us about the architectural vision and your interior design style, and how Cantabria fits in.
A: Our design vision for the home was simple, classic and timeless. The flooring was an important factor in our design concept as we wanted to run the same floor throughout the majority of our home. With three young children, we wanted a hardwood floor that was durable, looked clean and that would stand the test of time. Therefor selecting the flooring was one of the first decisions we made for our home. We used our selection to make subsequent design decisions and having the flooring tying the whole house together made the design process easier.
Q: Please tell us about your “first meeting” with your floor-to-be.
A: When we first saw the flooring sample at the dealer we fell in love with the colour and texture of the floor. We were looking for a good quality hardwood and when we learned that it could be glued down over radiant heat we were instantly sold on this beautiful floor.
Q: Favorite feature/accessory/furniture/art?
A: Our favorite feature in the home is our limestone fireplace. We love how the floor complements the fireplace to bring a warm and classic feel to our great room. We also love how the floor compliments the iron railing that we chose to use for our stairs and balcony.
Q: How would you describe your satisfaction with your new floor?
A: We love the floor, It looks great and is extremely durable. Because it is glued down, it feels great on the feet. We get lots of complements on the floor from people who visit us. We are so glad we chose this floor and have zero regrets about the purchase.
